☙ A Note on Where I Am

Now

Inspired by the /now movement, this is a quiet, occasional note about what I am actually focused on. It is not a list of accomplishments. It is the present tense.

Last updated: May 2026, from somewhere quiet.

Writing

The trilogy is finished and on the shelf. What I am writing now is in the Insights column — shorter pieces, one or two per month, on the questions readers have been asking. The most recent are Why I built Inkling and What karma actually means. I am gathering notes toward a longer piece on what I think of as the Trinity of Truth — religion, science, and philosophy as three lenses on one question — but it is not ready yet.

Reading

I keep returning to short books rather than long ones. The Tao Te Ching, in different translations, has been on my desk for months. I read Robert Wright's Why Buddhism Is True recently and was surprised by how clean the argument was. Yuval Noah Harari's Sapiens has stayed with me longer than most books I have read in the last decade. I am dipping back into the Bhagavad Gita slowly, in pieces.

Building

I am building Inkling, a small daily practice for the muscle of noticing the quiet voice underneath the loud one. It is intentionally small — one question a day, one field for the answer. The essay on the Insights page explains why.

Practicing

The same practices I have always returned to: a short morning sit, a long walk in the late afternoon, the discipline of catching what I believe about myself before I act on it. None of this has changed. The trilogy was written from inside this practice, not from above it.

Saying no to

Most things. The genre encourages noise; I have tried to stay quiet. No course launches, no “join my mastermind,” no membership tier. Just the books, the writing here, and the small daily practice.

Open to

Reader letters. Book club visits where my schedule allows (see the Book Clubs page). Thoughtful podcast conversations on the writing or the trilogy's questions. Press and interview requests can go through the Media page.
